Following reports of a mooted analytics offering, SAP has gone public with its SAP Cloud for Analytics solution, a new Software-as-a-Service offering which aims to overcome issues with siloed analytics capabilities.
“The challenge with analytics solutions on the market today, cloud or otherwise, is the silo approach to delivering capabilities such as visualisation and forecasting,” said Steve Lucas, president, platform solutions, SAP. “SAP Cloud for Analytics will be a new end-to-end cloud analytics experience, giving customers the ability to access all data so business users can easily discover, visualise, plan and predict. That to me is more than visualisation of data, that’s realisation of success.”
While still only a planned solution, SAP Cloud for Analytics will be built natively on SAP HANA Cloud Platform, and will be embedded with existing SAP solutions to connect cloud and on-premise data and deliver planning, predictive and business intelligence (BI) capabilities in one analytics experience.
SAP expects organisations will be able to use one solution to enable their employees to track performance, analyse trends, predict and collaborate to make informed decisions and improve business outcomes. With the solution embedded within SAP or in third-party applications, it is intended to provide seamless workflows at the point of decision within the applications themselves.
SAP Cloud for Analytics solution will be delivered in a fully scalable, multi-tenant environment “at a price point that enables any individual or company to sign up and get going quickly”, a statement by SAP said. The company also reiterated that though it is launching new SaaS analytics capabilities, it remains committed to innovation in the existing analytics solutions delivered on premise or in private cloud deployments.
SAP Cloud for Planning, an existing solution, will form part of SAP Cloud for Analytics, and capabilities available in the cloud edition of SAP Lumira will also be folded into the new solution.
SAP plans to unveil its new analytics offering at the SAP TechEd conference keynote on 20 October at 9am (PT) – see it here.
