Yellowfin has made available in beta a new version of its flagship platform, which it said will better enable the full spectrum of BI users and use cases.
Speaking at a Sydney roadshow late last year, John Ryan, director of product marketing, Yellowfin, said the new release recognises there is more to BI than just data discovery.
“Many different types of BI use cases – data discovery just one, though you need to do that well. Often organisations have 5-10 use cases. Yellowfin is trying to be the broadest platform to cover all the different BI use cases,” Ryan said.
A key change to the platform in the 7.2 is a move away from the analyst-only workflow of discover, create, publish, share, to include a business workflow instead. Covering, need, brainstorm, discover, create, review, publish, share and act phases, this workflow also features enhanced collaboration to improve task management and analytic workflows, helping business users and analysts work side by side, according to Yellowfin.
The 7.2 releases features an open connector framework, as well as prebuilt connectors and content for Salesforce, Xero, Google Analytics, Google Sheets, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Youtube. Yellowfin also plans to make additional connectors available on the Yellowfin Marketplace over time.
Enhanced forecasting and trending capabilities are also included in the new release.
Yellowfin 7.2 will be generally available in February, but in the meantime, the beta version is available to trial from the Yellowfin Support Centre here.
