Microsoft (finally) releases Power BI app for Windows 10 Mobile

Power BI

For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting, Microsoft has released the Power BI app for Windows 10 Mobile smartphones, enabling loyal business and enterprise users to enjoy the same cloud-based business analytics capabilities previously available to iOS and Android users.

Optimised for touch and mobile productivity, with a real-time refresh and a familiar interface for Windows 10 users, the new app allows users to explore dashboards and reports, invite colleagues to view data and share insights in tile snapshots via email quickly and easily.

Tired of manually refreshing data or finding out your important business data is out-of-date? This app’s for you. You will always have the most recent business data at your fingertips and you can control whether you schedule your data to refresh once a day or once a minute, using Power BI Rest API.

The new Pin to Start feature allows users to “pin” a direct link to a specific dashboard onto their home screen, where it can be accessed easily time and again simply by clicking the pinned tile.

The app also allows users to present their data in new visual ways with interactive charts, maps and graphs, using the familiar Windows 10 interface and conventions.

The app is available for free download in the Windows Store.

Microsoft tells us that this is just the next step toward having access to data anywhere, anytime. Coming “soon” will be the popular landscape mode as well as the new Windows 10 navigation and user experience for tablet and PC users.

Microsoft also states that the new Power BI app works best on devices with at least 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
